This is part two of my adventures in the dating app world. Make sure you check out part one: a new world to get caught up!
Where were we? Ah, yes, the Australian.
After what seemed like hours, I finally managed to decide on a message to throw his way.
“I’m a fan of big adventures, what brought you across the world to the big bad city of Edmonton?”
All of a sudden I was filled with a ridiculous amount of nerves. What if he didn’t reply? What was I supposed to say? I didn’t know how this dating thing worked. I was taking the fake it ‘til you make it approach.
Thankfully, he replied right away. And so began a steady conversation that continued on for the next 36 hours, with the exception of sleep. I was so excited we had so much to chat about. Also a bit surprised at how glued to the phone both he and I were, which is likely why I immediately agreed when he suggested meeting up and taking in the Art Walk the next day.
At the last minute, I looped my sister in on my plans, forced her to accept my location-sharing request to soothe my paranoia should anything go south and headed into the city to meet up with the austrailian at the Whyte Ave Art Walk.
For the sake of the length of this post, I’ll save you all the details and give you a high-level overview. The day went surprisingly well. It was a very natural connection once we got over the awkwardness of the initial meeting. We spent a few hours walking along Whyte Ave., headed back to his condo for some water and to drop off my car (which, by the way, had the best view of the city from the rooftop – this girl was seriously impressed), and then had a late dinner. Then it was time for me to head home.
Altogether, our first date lasted a solid 9 hours. Surprising, right?
I’d say the first Bumble date was a huge success.
That’s 1/3 dates down for my 27 x 28 list. Curious about what happened next? You’ll have to wait for part three of B’s dating diaries.
If you’ve braved the dating app world, how did you find the first initial meeting? Did they get easier for you?
